About Me
Tanner Ecker is a staff photographer with the Bismarck Tribune. He is a recent graduate of the University of Montana with Bachelor Degrees in both Journalism and Communication Studies.
Tanner grew up in Townsend, Montana, a town of around 2,000 people. He participated in Broadwater High School's Pep Band and Varsity Speech and Drama Team. Townsend is a small place but has a great community.
Tanner didn't find his passion for photography until he came to the University of Montana. Once he picked up the camera in his beginning photojournalism class, Tanner fell in love with it. So his focus from being a sports broadcaster switched to photography in a heartbeat. In his time with the University of Montana, Tanner partnered with the Missoulian, the Independent Record, and the Montana Kaimin to publish photos.
Tanner has interned with the Tri-City Chili Peppers baseball team in Colonial Heights, VA, the University of Montana Communication and Relations department, and the Missoulian before taking a full time position with the Bismarck Tribune.
When Tanner isn't photographing sports or working on photo stories, he is cooking, reading, listening to music or podcasts, or taking a stroll around the neighborhood.
